Welcome
A fleece and
fiber scouring operation located in central Vermont.
Tunbridge Woolworks' goal is to provide expert
services with a gentle environmental footprint. To this end,
our wood-burning furnace is the heat source for the hot water, fiber
drying, and for the building itself. Electricity is generated
by net-metering, using twenty solar panels.
Your fiber and wool is perfect for use in all
seasons and climates. Wool is a natural insulator against cold
and heat. It retains body
temperature close to the body while wicking away moisture, as air
gently circulates in and out of the wool batting. Wool is
naturally flame-resistant and once washed and
dried it retards the growth of mold and mildew.
Remember, wool is washable (sheep get rained on, too). The
loft (airness) is rejuvenated when finished wool items are put out
in the sun and fresh air.
Our affordable services provide you with:
-
Your
washed fiber ready for you to spin, weave, knit or
Macramé, or felt it into rugs, window quilts, or artistic
wall hangings --- or cut and sew the felt into purses,
vests, and slippers or mittens.
-
Your
card fiber ready to be sewn into fabulous comforters,
or quilted into mattress pads. With our experienced
Patrick Greene carder and picker, we card fiber up to 6"
long, only when washed here. "Patrick" produces batts
72" long and 18" wide.
-
Your picked fiber
ready to be made into healthful bed pillows (make them soft
or firm as you like), throw-pillows, or fabulous & unique
pet beds (you might even add cedar chips).
